I have used this underlayment on several projects now. It is easy to manipulate, but thick and tough enough to protect from rocks and roots. I is a little challenging to cut, but with some practice, that too is manageable. IHMO, it is a perfect landscape fabric due to its much greater thickness, great permeability and toughness. I have used it to restrict root growth for smaller trees I wanted to keep small (like an outside bonsai), but be able to plant directly into the ground. It can also be used on spillways to prevent erosion from rushing water (with appropriate gravel on top).
